A Recap of Recent Events + ANOTHER Surprise!

Good morning, Monday Spellbinders!

In case you missed it, Spellbound Comics & The DeMultiverse Kickstarter campaign had a busy week.

First we debuted Dustin Nguyen's incredible horror variant cover for WISDOM.

This joins the lovely LAYLA IN THE LANDS OF AFTER variant cover by JH Williams III.

And of course Kevin Maguire's amusing ANYMAN variant.

Then on Saturday, we nearly broke Kickstarter when we announced The DeMultiverse grew from 4 new titles in 4 genres w/ 4 artists, all written by JM DeMatteis, to 5 new JM titles in 5 genres w/ 5 artists. Introducing THE MYSTERIES OF EDWARD GLOOM!

GLOOM is a gothic thriller that JM describes as "Frankenstein meets Sherlock Holmes meets Charles Dickens." GLOOM is co-created by JM's AUGUSTA WIND collaborator, Vassilis Gogtzilas. Welcome to the DeMultiverse, Vass!

Also, we only have 3 days left in the campaign, & are (right now) less than two-hundred dollars from our first STRETCH GOAL which will guarantee THE DeMULTIVERSE COLLECTION TPB will grow from 100 pages to 104!

This is all very exciting of course, and we can't thank you all enough for helping to spread the word & for supporting us with your hard-earned money. But we're not done. Raising funds OR dropping surprises!

We still have ONE more, BIG surprise to throw in your laps. Our final cover artist, handling the GODSEND variant. And we will be announcing that either later today or tomorrow.

So stay tuned to these campaign updates or our social media accounts the rest of this week (listed below),  as we first reveal the artist's name, then, with a little luck, a sketch of the cover.

And PLEASE keep sharing. We're almost at the finish line, and we'd LOVE to finish STRONG!

PS - All 4 variant covers are available as ADD-ONs on Kickstarter. To add, go to MANAGE PLEDGE>CONFIRM your original pledge (this is VERY important)>then go to ADD-ONs & select the cover(s) you want.

Think of your original pledge as your "main course," and the Add-Ons as your "dessert." You have to confirm your main course order before adding dessert, otherwise you'll end up getting only dessert for dinner!

IMPORTANT UPDATE Regarding THE EDWARD GLOOM MYSTERIES

Hello Spellbinders!

Sorry for the second email today, but this seemed urgent. A great many of you have already increased your pledges to add JM's 5th title THE EDWARD GLOOM MYSTERIES, and we are overwhelmed (in a good way) by your support. So thank you!

But some of you, inadvertently I think, actually DECREASED your pledges from, for example, The entire DeMULTIVERSE Collection to just Gloom. 

Given some of the comments, I am pretty certain this was accidental for most or all who did this. 

The source of the confusion, I think, is that if you already backed us, you don't want to select GLOOM from the "Rewards" page, but rather ADD it on from the "ADD-ONs" page. 

If you are one of the people who did this by accident, it's vital you fix your pledge or when we go to fulfill, you're going to end up with GLOOM only and a lot of disappointment. 

To fix it, go to the REWARDS page and pick the main reward you want (for example, the DeMultiBundle). THEN you'll be taken to the ADD-ONs page where you can add items like signatures, single issue floppies, or single issue digitals. THAT is where you'll want to ADD-ON GLOOM ($15 print/$12 digital).

Think of it as ordering your main course and GLOOM is the dessert!

Again, if you were planning to get all 5 titles, and your name is listed above, you MAY have accidentally decreased your pledge while trying to increase it.

Guys, I know it seems like we drop a new bomb on you every few days, but we’re near the end of the campaign, so we must be done dropping, right? WRONG!

You guys have been SO supportive of Spellbound Comics, The DeMultiverse, and all the creators that we decided to drop one more, dare we say, nuke? This one is huge. Are you sitting down?

Remember how we launched four new JM DeMatteis titles all at once in four different genres, illustrated by four different artists with four very different styles?

Well, as a special surprise to all our dedicated DeMultiverse fans, we just added a 5th ALL NEW JM-PENNED TITLE TO THE CAMPAIGN!

In the Home Stretch to our First Stretch (Goal)!

Hello again, Spellbinders!

Yesterday, we had an INCREDIBLE day passing both $39K AND $40K. So thank you to everyone for that! We're now less than $10K from our FIRST STRETCH GOAL! Simply by hitting $50K total, everyone who bought the trade paperback will get an additional 4 PAGES FREE! That's right, the 100 page TPB becomes 104. That's 4 more pages of behind-the-scenes art. And as we progress, it may even get bigger!

FYI, we added a Retailer Bundle that includes 10 TPBs and 10 copies of each title (40 total comics that you can mix & match). If you know any retailers who might be interested, send them the link! We've had a couple of retailers approach us privately and this bundle was the result of their feedback. If one retailer liked this deal, there must be others out there who'd like it too!

Also, the Early Bird DeMulti-Bundle is down to just 5 remaining. Once those 5 are gone, the price jumps $10. So if you or someone you know has been considering the package that includes all four comic books and the TPB, now is the time to snatch that up.

And finally, I'd like to shine a spotlight on what has to be one of the coolest comic book swag products ever made -- the MADMAN LUNCHBOX! (Art by Mike Allred.) This product recently funded on Kickstarter, but is now available here.

I mean, seriously, just look at this thing. It's incredible! Makes me want to offer a DeMultiverse lunchbox. If that's of interest to anyone, drop a comment on the campaign.

500 BACKER ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

Hello Spellbound Audience!

We have officially PASSED 500 BACKERS!

As a special THANK YOU, this milestone unlocked FREE DIGITAL INDIE COMICS FOR EVERYONE! These books will be delivered sometime between the end of the campaign and the time we fulfill ours. You may or may not have heard of the creators, but they will all be friends of Spellbound and/or work I myself have enjoyed.

Also wanted to let you know, we added a small handful of WISDOM head sketches by Tom Mandrake. Tom's original art is revered by the comic art community, and now's your chance to own a small piece. When I last checked, only two remained -- so don't sleep on that one. The Reward level is called The 1-1-1.

There's also just one "Chat with Matt" reward level remaining. That's a 25 minute Zoom call with everybody's favorite GODSEND artist, Matthew Dow Smith. Matt is a veteran creator of traditional comic books AND web comics, so if you'd like to pick his brain on anything related to the creative or business aspects of either of those two mediums, this is your chance! Of course, you can also just talk Dr. Who with him, which will probably lead to a longer call where you'll wish you never brought it up. (DISCLAIMER: Longer call if you bring up Dr. Who is NOT guaranteed!)

We also have one remaining GET DRAWN IN reward for ANYMAN. If you've ever wanted to see yourself drawn into a comic book like so many greats before us (Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Gene Colan, etc.), this is your chance. And who better to do it than the artist of ANYMAN, David Baldeon?! (Who, by the way, has also been drawn into a comic--by himself!)

And finally, at the time of this writing, we're about 6 backers away from passing the $35K mark on Kickstarter. So PLEASE keep sharing and talking about us everywhere and to everyone you know.
