Hello Spellbound Audience! (See what I did there?)
It's exactly noon on the East Coast which means we've officially completed our campaign's first week. It's been a successful one, I think, having earned Kickstarter's Project We Love designation in just one hour and being fully funded in six. We passed $25K in just over three days; and, right now, if you count the backers we've accumulated through SpellboundComics.com, we're just shy of $30K with over 450 backers. So let's give ourselves a round of applause!
The Spellbound team is currently spitballing on how we can best celebrate the vaunted 500 backers hurdle. Some ideas on the table: free digital wallpaper, digital print, digital poster, or some digital comics by other indie creators who are both friends of Spellbound and whose work I think you might enjoy.
If you have strong feelings on this, please add a comment to the campaign. I'll also run a poll on Twitter, if you'd like to vote there. As with the decision of which DeMultiverse title should go to series first, I'm quite happy to let you decide. We are, after all, looking to build not just a Spellbound audience, but a Spellbound community. And community members should get a say!
I also wanted to take this moment to remind you all that, in addition to the single issue comics and the collected trade paperback, we are also offering variant covers for all four titles, illustrated by some of the biggest names in the business. Dustin Nguyen, whose work on Batman and the Descenders is jaw-dropping, is tackling WISDOM. JH Williams III hit his LAYLA variant out of the park. And Kevin Maguire's ANYMAN cover, featuring a touch of his trademark humor, should be colored and ready for its big debut no later than next week. We also have a Mystery Artist for GODSEND who we're planning to announce before the end of the campaign, and trust me, you will not be disappointed if you buy these covers unseen.
You can buy any of the four variant covers as an add-on or there's a bundle of all four that saves you $5. Here's JH's LAYLA cover: How can you resist this?
And finally, in case you didn't know, there's also a piece of Tom Mandrake original art in the campaign. It's one of the very first sketches of Wisdom ever done. When Wisdom goes on to be a TV show or movie, this piece is going to be worth a small fortune! Only one available. EVER!
Talk soon. And thanks again. For everything.
Sincerely,
David, JM, and the entire Spellbound team
