Shipping Update!

How it Started
How it's Going
Well, there it is. Approximately 750 packages filled and ready for labeling. The only packages that have not been packed include a Matthew Dow Smith signature, as the distance between us required everything be mailed back and forth. The good news is, that's only a couple dozen packages, and I should have them in hand by the end of this week.
Admittedly, this took longer than I had anticipated. And the labeling process itself may also. Turns out, there's a lot of figuring out to do when you offer four different series in two covers, a TPB, a surprise 5th title, autographs, sketches, original art, and T-shirts. The combinations (and resulting shipping weights) are nearly infinite!
Needless to say, this has been a learning experience and our next project will be handled very differently to ensure faster turnarounds from launch to books in your hand. That's a promise.
Okay, off to start printing labels. Expect an update this week when books start mailing.
Sincerely,
David

Good day, valued Spellbinders!
The TPBs were delayed about a week more than anticipated, but they arrived yesterday morning.
Can you spot the box that sets off my OCD?
Then, as some of you may have seen on social media, I drove to JM to have him sign hundreds of books.
Today, I drove to Shawn McManus to get his books signed.
Spellbinder, Jr. shows off a copy of the first comic book he's ever read, signed by JM and Shawn. (Spoiler: He loved it!)
And tomorrow, I will do it again to meet up with Tom Mandrake. That will just leave Matthew's signatures, but, as he lives a bit further away, we'll have to get his done via mail. So anyone who bought a Matthew autograph will be among the final orders packed.
The rest of you however will be happy to hear your orders have already started packing, and we hope to get the first batch in the mail next week. I'm going to wait to start sending until we're close on packing all because I don't want a huge delay between people receiving their orders (with international orders being the only unavoidable circumstance). My goal is, and always has been, to have everyone's orders in the mail by 4/15. So far, we are on pace for that. I'll let you know if that changes for any reason.
Really looking forward to you all getting these books. I know I'm biased, but they look FANTASTIC.
Until next time...
David

1st FREE digital comics

Hey gang, sorry for the back-to-back updates, but I forgot to include our first FREE digital comics in yesterday's update. When we hit 500 backers, I promised (on Twitter, at least) to send everyone some free indie digital comics. I'm compiling others, but I wanted to rush these two books out because they have an active campaign on Kickstarter right now with only 4 days left. Plus I backed their previous campaign and enjoyed the art and the story on this one--and I'm a snob! So this isn't just a random indie book being promoted, it's one I was convinced to buy and have enjoyed.
It's called By the Time I Get to Dallas, and it's a postapocalyptic tale a la Walking Dead. The pitch is: "With 80% of homo sapiens migrating to one spot on the globe, a failing med student hits the road to save, or maybe destroy, humanity." And perhaps most interesting of all, it's written by a guy who IS an ER doctor. Buy with confidence!
Two free digital comics below, and here's the link to the campaign with just 4 days left:

Not pictured, more boxes!
Happy Sunday, Spellbinders! Hope you're enjoying your day of rest while the Spellbound team continues to work tirelessly 7 days a week (that's me, there's no team).
As you can see from the photo, a lot of boxes have arrived. It appears we now have all the comics and shipping supplies, and are just waiting on the TPBs, which should be arriving this week. Once those are received, we'll dive into full shipping mode and start packing boxes. I expect that will take 2-3 weeks. The target date we promoted at launch, and still plan to hit, was all books shipped by April 15th. What better way to celebrate Tax Day than 4 or 5 new JM DeMatteis comics to read?!
A few important things: Later today, you will receive notice through BackerKit to lock your addresses. We need that step complete in order to print labels. Also 59 of you still have not completed your initial survey. Until this step is completed, we cannot ship your order. I've sent about a dozen reminders, so hopefully at least one of those has made its way to you. And two of you completed the survey, but your cards aren't working. I've emailed you both privately, but I'm mentioning it here in case you didn't get those emails because we can't ship those orders until this is corrected.
And finally, we over-ordered by about 20%, so if you want to add anything or know someone who might want to jump on board, it's not too late to get in those orders and be a part of the big vote for which series should continue first.
More to follow in the coming weeks...
Sincerely,
David

Proofs have arrived!

Hello, Spellbound Audience!
Got the printed proofs on all 9 floppies and the TPB late last week, and they all look fantastic. There are one or two minor changes we need to make, but the print quality on these FAR exceeded my expectations.
Welcome... to the DeMultiverse! (*Plus GLOOM)
You can't tell in the photo, but we ended up with some pretty heavy paper and cover stock on the single issues -- they almost feel like books. Really makes these Kickstarted copies feel special, so I think you'll all be pleased. We should be placing the final printing order by the end of the week.
In the meantime, there are still about 80 of you who haven't completed your survey. This is the last time I'll email about it. We will be locking orders and charging cards within the week. So if there are any items you want to add to your order, these next few days are the time to do it. If you didn't receive an email from BackerKit, please email me at [email protected] and I'll try to help you get it taken care of another way.
I'll leave you with a shot of the inside of the TPB...
As you can see from the Table of Contents, we ended up growing this puppy to a superb 116 pages--far over what we promised in the campaign. There was just too much good stuff to choose from, and we really wanted all our loyal supporters to get their money's worth!
Next update should be when final books are in hand. Talk to you soon!
